The formation of Hauz Khas in South Delhi was the hobby horse of Alauddin Khilji in 1284. Well, the word Hauz is an Urdu word whose meaning is Pond. The royal leader Alauddin Khilji bespoke an outsized pond or tank in this locality for the consumption of the natives of Siri Fort, the following town of Delhi.
