Thol Wildlife Sanctuary

One of the most important tourist attractions in Gujarat is the Thol Wildlife Sanctuary. Acclaimed as one of the best destinations for bird watching, the sanctuary is visited from tourists all over the world. Thol Wildlife Sanctuary is distanced 40 km from Ahmedabad in the Mehsana district.

The sanctuary has many lakes. The Thol Lake, which is the largest of all, encompasses an area of 7 sq km. The vegetation of the sanctuary comprises scrub forests which makes an ideal location for migratory birds like waders and waterfowls. Thol Wildlife Sanctuary is best visited in the months of October and March.

Some of the birds you get to meet here include the White Pelicans, Mallards, Greylag Cheese, Flamingoes, Saras Crane and scores of others.
