Spread out over a sprawling 56 sq km, the sanctuary is situated on the Gujarat-Madhya Pradesh border. The meandering Panam River, crisscrossing small picturesque hilltop hamlets, coupled with lush forests and whispering woods, make your forest safari to Ratanmahal Sanctuary, Gujarat an exclusive scenic delight.
You can get to the sanctuary very easily. Begin your journey at the Kanjeta village which is located at about 60 km from Dahod or Piplod and 45 km from Baria Taluka. As you reach the Ratanmahal Sanctuary, you will come across the much talked about Sloth Bears. If you are lucky enough, you might as well get hold of Panthers.
The forests of the sanctuary are also home to the large-size Monkeys, Langurs, Jackals, Antelopes and Hyenas. With permission from the authorities, you can also get to the hilltop which is about 8 km from Kanjeta and offers a breathtaking view of the surroundings. There is also a small Shiva temple within the Ratanmahal Sloth Bear Sanctuary where you can offer prayers. You can also stay at the forest rest house.
