Darbargadh, currently the region in the inner town, appears to be the original city discovered by Jam Raval in the 16th century. The base rock in one of these buildings still bears evidence as also the momentous Darbargadh Palace that was constructed on a lofty plane over the region between Rangmati and Nagmati rivers.
Jamnagar history also states that the city initially consisted of Halar district. The setup of present day Jamnagar is modern.
