Dwarka, a pious spot of Gujarat has got its name from the Hindi word ‘Dwar’ means door. Dwarka structured with limestone and sand, is a major pilgrimage halt, housing 60 beautiful columns temple, Dwarkanath. Devotees from every nook and corner of the world frequently make their visit to Gujarat to grasp the treasures of the Holy shrines at Dwarka.

Major holy places of Dwarka

Dwarkadheesh Temple:  Dwarkadheesh temple or Jagat temple is sited on the bank of Gomti, which dates back to 2,500 years. The temple is the ultimate symbol of rich architectural grandeurs, supported by sixty majestic columns. The chief temple is five-story high decorated with lavish engraved conical spire rising to a height of 157 feet. Dwarka is also sacred as the halt of Adi Shankaracharya, well- known for his four seats (maths) in four different directions of the country.

Rukmini Devi Temple:  Rukmini Devi temple is the dwelling of Lord Krishna’s wife Rukmini. It is a small temple but rich with tremendous architectural masterpieces of 12th century. The temple walls are festooned with eye-catchy paintings and portrays of the pastimes associated with Krishna. Amongst a huge array of temples belonging to different periods in the history of Dwarka, the temple of Rukmini, an incarnation of Lakshmi is answerable in creating it a major traveler’s hub.

Nageshwar Mandir: Nageshwar temple occupies a dominant role in making Dwarka a prime pilgrimage center. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Nageshwar temple is the utmost name of dedication, sincerity and praying to lord Shiva. Its underground premise houses one of the 12 Jyotirlingas thus mostly visited to seek celestial blessings. The massive figurine of Lord Shiva placed just outside the temple showcases a breathtaking spectacle for the tourists.

Gomati Ghat Temples: Gomati Ghat temple is known for its sacredness and holiness within the global tourists. A hallow bath at the spot where Gomti meets the ocean is believed to come with the liberation of soul and spirit. Gomati temple and Chakra-tirtha Ghat are the celebrated spots of Gomati, immensely attracting the traveler from all across the world.
