Golghar is a massive granary built by Captain John Garstin in 1786. It was round in shape. In 1770, the people in Bihar suffered of severe draught resulting to famine. This calamity alarmed the people and they thought to construct a huge granary. Golghar granary was built by the British army. This huge monument named Golghar is 29 m high and is 3.6 m wide. It has spiral upstairs winding around the monument. From the top of the monument you can see the beautiful view of the city and the nearby river Ganga. This huge building is also a centre of attraction to many tourists coming to India tour.
