Coffees beans can be categorized into different types according to its flavor and taste. Though there remain several varieties of coffees in the consumer market but generally two types of coffee plants have festooned the world of coffee. Arabica is a distinct kind of coffee known for its superior flavor and aroma. Robusta, a bit more bitter and acidic, rich with higher caffeine, is less preferable for domestic use.
Both Robusta and Arabica comprise of sub-varieties. Mocha or Java varieties are examples of Traditional Arabica coffees and Indonesian Kopi Luwak, the known component of Robusta. Coffees are categorized into different types as per the region in which it grows. Almost hundred kinds of coffee (Coffea) have blessed the world’s coffee industry. Canephora is another variety of coffee normally grown commercially.

Bourbon are two special categories of Arabica coffee and the older varieties that grow in the shade.
Arabica is self-pollinating coffee category and the stable variety that sometimes transmutes into cultivated strains. Ethiopian Harrar, Guatelmalan Antigua and Hawaiian Kona are several botanical varieties of coffees named according to their growing regions.
