Chamba town stands on the bank of river Ravi. It is one of the oldest
princely state and dates back to the sixth century . It is well known for
its splendid and beautiful architecture and also has a district headquarters Accessibilty :Chamba is connected by road to Delhi, which is about 580 k.m . It is 24 k.m from Khajjiar and 56 k.m from Dalhousie . The closest railhead is at Pathankot, 118 k.m away.The airport at Gaggal , Kangra is at a distance of 170 k.m away . Taxis/Buses are available from these places . Chamba is famous for its slippers,'rumals' and beautiful shawls.
Best Season : The best season to visit Chamba is between March to June and between September to October.
Festivals : The Minjar Festival is held each year in late July / early August. The Sui Festival is held in March / April. Sui Mata was a Chamba princess who gave her life for her people. Besides these all other major Indian festivals are also celebrated with great enthusiasm .
