BHOPAL- HISTORY AND LEGENDS
Bhopal is founded by the king Parmara. Earlier he had his capital at Dhar. Earlier, the city was known as Bhojpal named after Bhoj. In the 11th century, Raja Bhoja of the Parmara dynasty built two splendid lakes around the city. Gradually the power of the Parmaras declined in power. Later after the death of Mugal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1707, an Afgan soldier, Dost Mohammed laid out the present city of Bhopal.
