Adi Kailash Tour Package
Mt. Adi-Kailash - popularly known as Chhota-Kailash, is in indian territory, close to the Indian Tibetan border. It is an area of great natural beauty, peace and sovereignty. Men and women, tired by the incessant roar of urban life, will find here a healing quietude conducive to liking inward and discouraging with one's inner self. The far eastern valleys and peaks of Kumaon Himalaya have been little visited by trekking or climbing parties since the Border area was closed following the Chinese incursions of 1962. A few Indian trekkers have explored the area, notably Harish Kapadia's group on 1982. Kapadia made a circular route going up the Darma valley and crossing the 5500m Shin La pass to gain the upper Kuthi Yankti valley at Jolingkong where there is a sacred lake and Hindu temple. Above Jolingkong rises a striking peak, well over 6000 meters in altitude, known to local people as Adi Kailash (half kailash) because of its distinct resemblance to Holy Mount Kailash which in fact lies 110km to the north in Tibet. Adi Kailash has become better known to Westerners as Little Kailash. During Adi-Kailash Yatra, you will come across the mighty splendour of the snow peaks of Annapurna, the gushing Kali river, thick Forest, Narayan Ashram full of wild flowers and rare variation of fruits and number of water falls. Thereafter is a steep descent through a thick forest to the stream Simkhola - gad. From Simkhola is gentle up the village Galla, Bindakoti and the destination Jipti. Kali river which is missing from Tawaghat, appears here again flowing several hundred feet down in a gorge. Overnight halt at Jipti. Day 07: Jipti - Malpa (2018 meters, 9 kms trek) From Jipti the difficult part of the whole journey starts upto Garbyang. Very steep descent upto the bank of Kali river is thrilling. Going along the side of kaali near a spot, Chhatta is adifficult trek. Further up a beautiful najang waterfall about 100 feet high comes and the climb starts upto the Bola pass. Again a steep descent upto Malpa is quite tiring. Here Kali river flows like a reptile through the rocky gorge. Day

The path is very slippery here. On the way is a halting place, Lamare where one can get a cup of tea torefresh oneself. After covering a steep ascent, the village Budhi is seen from the top of the hill.Overnight halt at Budhi. Day 09: Bundi - Gunji (3,220 meters, 20 kms trek) A 3 kilometers steep climb to Chhiyalekh. One reaches without much difficulty and is swept by the breathtaking beauty of the meadows, lush green with pretty yellow and mauve flowers and a little temple in the middle. A huge rock with a bell on top stands solitary beckoning passersby to climb and ring it. Here one gets a glimpse of Mount Annapurna and other peaks and glaciers around. Then follows a slow 4 kilometers trek to Garbyang (3225 meters). The houses in the village would put the leaning tower of Pisa to shame. It seems that they are about to fall any moment. The whole village was built on a big glacier. It was made many centuries back and the people who made it did not realize that under the stone, rocks and mud there was a glacier, which had been covered, probably by a landslide. The trek is now along the river Kali. There are towering, spiraling trees and one wonders whether they grew like that on their own or with assistance from the wind. All the same, they look very beautiful. A big stream, Tinker, flowing from Tibet, merges with the Kali at this point. Gunji is on the other side of the river. It is situated at the confluence of rivers Kali and Kutti. Overnight at Gunji Day 10: Gunji - Kutti (3,600 meters, 19 kms trek) From Gunji one walks along the banks of the meandering river Kuti, snow clad peaks and bhojpatra forests. Behind one is a splendid view of the Api and Nampha peaks. Across the river is the village of Rongkong. One then reaches Nabi, which has a temple and an almost hidden spring in the beautiful mountain standing behind the village. In many places, the river Kuti is completely covered with snow. Eleven kilometers ahead is a Public Works Department hut at Nampha from where the view is as stunning as the Swiss Alps. Kutti is the last village on this trek. The local people called Bhotias have much to say about their land. The village, Kutti, they say is named after Mata Kunti, the mother of the Pandavas in the epic Mahabharata. Kunti apparently stayed here for quite some time. Likewise they claim that the great sage Vyas lived here for a long time and wrote many books. The Bhotias have preserved their heritage assiduously and are always ready to show it through their dance and music. One can see the Pandava fort, salt mines and houses with beautiful engravings on their doors and windows. Overnight at Kutti Day 11: Kutti - Zolingkong (4,572 meters, 14 kms trek) This is the last stretch to reach the foot of Mount Adi Kailash (6,191 metres). The river Kutti and its bridge are under a thick cover of snow. The changing altitude and lack of oxygen level after crossing the tree line slows one's pace. There are now capped mountain ranges on all sides and strong winds. The Indo-Tibet Border Police Force (ITBP) post at Zolinkong, which is open for a small part of the year. As one looks at the marvelously crafted snowcapped Mount Adi Kailash, it is like a dream fulfilled. Just opposite is Parvati's mukut (throne). At the foot of Mount Adi Kailash is Gauri Kund whose waters reflect the mountain. Closely (4 kilometers) is the beautiful Parvati sarovar (lake). On the bank of this lake, the local people have erected a temple of Lord Shiva and Parvati, which is sometimes visited by swan-like birds. A holy dip in the Parvati sarovar may be chilling but an experience and pilgrimage worth remembering. Overnight at Zolingkong Day 12: Jollingkong -Adi Kailash - Jollingkong (4 kms by trek) Enjoy your final part of your trek to reach Adi Kailash.
