The Thiksey Monastery is a beautiful monastery in Ladakh. The Triksey Monastery, which is 20 km from Leh is located at an altitude of 3600 m above the sea level. It was believed that Palden Sangpo, disciple of Sherab Sangpo founded this small monastery at the end of the valley. He carried on with the teachings of the teacher.
The Thiksey Monastery is located on the summit of a hill. This Gompa has 12 storey monastery complexes. It consists of numerous stupas, thankas, statues, swords, etc. You can find Buddha teachings in the large pillars of the Thiksey monastery. More that hundred monks stay in the Thiksey Monastery. You can find large statue of the Lord Buddha, which is 15 Km tall. This monastery is a major centre of attraction to the tourists of the whole world.
