There are many fascinating monuments in and around Srinagar. Out of the many magnificent places, the tomb of Alamdar-e-Kashmir is a magnificent place that is located 28 km to the south-west of Srinagar. It is located at Chrar-e-Sharif in Budgam district. The then ruler of Kashmir Zain-ul-Abideen built this shrine on the burial site. Sheikh Noor-ud-din was a pious soul who traveled throughout the state to circulate the message of his religion. To do that, he also had meditated for 12 years inside a cave.
The Afghan Governor, Atta Mohd. Khan issued coins inscribed with his name four centuries later to his death. But that shrine over the burial of the holy soul was gutted in a devastating fire in 1995. The new one that stands today was constructed later in a planned way.
