The Stok Palace is an elegant four-storey terrace studded with threshing circles and farmhouses. This beautiful monument was built in the early nineteenth century. In fact, it was built by the last ruler of independent Ladakh. One room of the Stok Palace has been converted into museum. There are many fascinating collections in the Stok Palace like the precious heirlooms, antique ritual objects, ceremonial tea paraphernalia, emeralds and sapphires. You can also witness a couple of swords whose blades were allegedly tied in knots. This demonstrates the strength of the then kings. This palace had been the official residence of the royal family of Ladakh. Still now, a former member of parliament lives here during the summer.
