The Sankar Gompa is situated at 3 km from Leh, Ladakh region, in Jammu & Kashmir. It is one of the fascinating Gompa in Jammu & Kashmir. This Gompa is staffed by twenty monks only. It is the official residence of Kushok Bakul, Ladakh's head of the Gelug-pa sect. The roof top terrace of the Gompa offers a fine towards the north side of Namgyal Tsemo hill. This terrace also offers excellent view of the south valley. This gompa is easily accessible by car. Many tourists come to witness this historic Gompa, since time immortal.
