The Sani Monastery in Jammu and Kashmir is one of the magnificent monasteries. It is located to the west of Padum at a distance of 6 km. The stupa of Kanika is the main attraction of the Sani Monastery. The assembly hall of the Sani Monastery was believed to be constructed in the beginning of the 17th century. It was also believed that the chorten inside the monastery was erected in the 2nd century AD. The central praying hall of the monastery showcases rich collection statues of Buddhist’s Gods.
Outside the Soni Monastery complex, you can find eight most important cremation grounds of Tibetan Buddhists. Apart from sight seeing in Sani Monastery, you can enjoy by taking part in a annual festival that is held in this monastery. This festival is popularly known as the Naro-Nasjal Festival in which the lamas perform masked dances as a ritual.
