Jammu and Kashmir tour enables you to witness many ravishing monasteries in India. The Phyang Monastery of Ladakh, which is located at a distance of 40 km to the west of Leh is also one of them. This entrancing monastery is founded by Chosje Damma Kunga in 1515. The Phyang monastery belongs to the Red Hat Sect of Buddhism. At present it was under Apchi Choski Dolma. Inside the monastery complex, one can find numbers of sacred shrines. The exquisite wall paintings dating from the royal period has never fail to grab the attention of the tourist.
The museum of the Phyang Gompa is 900 years old. You can find a rich collection of numerous idols, Chinese, Tibetan and Mongolian firearms and weapons, etc. The Phyang Monastery is the ground where the festival of Gang-Sngon Tsedup is held every year. This festival is celebrated from 17th day to 19th day of the first month of the Tibetan calendar. Tourists from all round the globe used to come here to witness this historical monument in Ladakh.
