The Phugtal Gompa is one of the major monuments in Jammu and Kashmir. It is located in the Zanskar region of Ladakh. This magnificent gompa dates back to 12 century. It is the only monasteries in this region. The Phugtal Monastery is built at the opening of a huge cave and a huge gorge. This huge gorge serves as a passageway for a major tributary of the southern Lungnak River.
While your visit to Phugtal Gompa, you can see a number of chapels that are available inside the premises. This monastery serves as a residence to about 40 monks.
