Sitanadi Wildlife Sanctuary - Introduction
Sitanadi Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh. The sanctuary is among the most important and famous wildlife sanctuaries in the central part of India. It is established in the 1974 under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 of India. The sanctuary id spread over an area of about 556 sq km that is comprised of various flora and fauna. The sanctuary is named after the Sitanadi River that originates in the middle of the sanctuary and joins river Mahanadi. The sanctuary is home to many wild and rare species of plants and animals.

Various flora and Fauna found in the Sitanadi Wildlife Sanctuary include the moist peninsular Sal, Teak and Bamboo forests, Barking Deer, Bison, Black Buck, Chinkara, Chital, Cobra, Flying Squirrels, Four-horned Antelopes, Gaur, Jackals, Jungle Cat, and Leopards etc. Apart from this one can also find Monkey, Muntjac, Nilgai, Porcupine, Python, Sambar, Chital, Elephant, Gaur, Jackals, Langur, Mongoose, Monkeys, Mouse, Nilgai, Nuntjac, Panther, Porcupine, Sambar, Sloth Bear, Striped Hyena, Tigers, Wild Boar and Wild Dogs.
