The Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the bank of Godavari River at a distance of 12-kms from Paloncha, Khammam District in Andhra Pradesh. The sanctuary acquired its name from the river Kinnerasani, which flows through the sanctuary to meet the Godavari River. The Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary is spreaded over an area of 635.4-sq km and forms a part of the Dandakaranya forests in Khammam district. The dense forests of the Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary serve the homeland for various endangered plants and animals’ species. The green vegetation and the lively wildlife in the sanctuary make the place one of the greatest tourist destinations.

The Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary is marked by dense forests, abundant flora and fauna and picturesque spots. Dry deciduous forests, with trees like teak and bamboo makes the Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary a store house of exotic animals including Cheetal, Black Bucks, Chinkaras, Chousinghas, Sambhars, Wild Boars, Gaurs, Wild Dog, Hyena, Jackals, Sloth Bear, Panthers, Tigers, Peafowl, Jungle Fowl, Quails, Partridges, Doves, Ducks, Teals, Spoonbills, Nuktas, Open Bill Stork and dangerous reptiles like Python, Cobra, Kraite and Vipers. The dense foliage of the Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary holds varied plant species including Maddi, Yepi, Yegissa, Sommi Thandra, Bandaru, Amla, Mango and Tendu.
