The St. Paul Church is located en route in between Old Goa to Ponda. On 25th January 1543 the construction of the church got completed. This church is in its ruined state, but still it gathers large number of tourists due to its historical significance. This church was once one of the famous educational institutes in India that imparted higher education in subjects like Latin, Arts, Music and Sciences. Also, the St. Paul Church used to impart Master’s as well as Doctorate Degrees. This church was set afire as many as four times by rivals of Jesuits. In 1829, the government determined to blow up it properly, as the church was in its dilapidated state.
