Ooty Lake as a picturesque tourist spot needs your calm and meaningful exploration. It’s actually an artificial lake, created more than 150 Years back. Your Ooty tour is incomplete without unfurling the Ooty Lake. The lake was initiated as long back as 1823 by the collector of Coimbatore Mr. John Sullivan. It is about 2km in length with an irregular ‘L’ shape structure. Constructing a dam through a narrow outlet of the valley has made the Ooty Lake. A lot of water vehicles are there for making a smooth and efficient trip to Ooty. Motorboats can be hired and proves to be very exciting whereas the big boat jetty is tremendously popular with children. Definitely amongst the must see places of Ooty, the Lake is a great place to visit for those who love to be outdoors. The lake is very accessible and conveniently placed at a short distance from the bus stop and the railway station of the place.
