Day 01 : Arrive Delhi
Indian Horizons representative would welcome you at the airport and
transfer you to the hotel. Overnight at Delhi
Day 02 : In Delhi
Morning after breakfast proceed with our Indian Horizons guide for a
full-day city tour of Delhi visiting the historical monuments. Overnight at
Delhi
Day 03 : Delhi - Ajmer - Pushkar
Morning Transfer to railway station to board train for Ajmer. On arrival,
assistance and later drive to Pushkar and check in at hotel. Morning visit
the holy lake and the famous Brahma Temple. Overnight at Pushkar
Day 04 : Pushkar - Jaipur (131 kms/03 hrs)
Drive to Jaipur and check in at hotel. Tour of Jaipur visiting Maharaja's
Palace, Hawa Mahal, Royal Observatory and Albert Museum. Also do excursion
of Amber Fort, where ascent to the fort is on elephant's back. Overnight at
Jaipur.
Day 05 : Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra (221 kms/05 hours)
Drive to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri to visit the Mosque built by Emperor Akbar
in the memory of Sheikh Salim Chisti. On arrival, check in at hotel.
Overnight at hotel. Afternoon visit Taj Mahal - built by the Moghul Emperor
Shah Jehan in memory of his wife Mumtaj Mahal ; Agra Fort on the opposite
bank of River Yamuna built by four successive Emperors and the tomb of Itmad
- Ud - Daullah. Overnight at Agra
Day 06 : Agra - Jhansi - Orchaa - Khajuraho
Transfer to railway station to connect train for Jhansi. On arrival,
assistance and later drive to Khajuraho (181 kms/04.50 hrs) enroute visiting
Orchaa which boasts of its palaces and temples built by its Bundela rulers
in the 16th and 17th century. Jahangir Mahal, a tiered palace crowned by
graceful chhatris has a spectacular view of soaring temple spires and
cenotaphs. On arrival, check in at hotel. Overnight at Khajuraho
Day 07 : In Khajuraho
Morning visit Eastern & Western group of temples. The world famous
Khajuraho temples were built by the Chandela kings between 950 AD and 1050
AD. The most important are the Chaunset Yogini Temple dedicated to Goddess
Kali, The Mahadev Temple, Chitragupta or Bharatji Temple with a lovely image
of 11 headed Vishnu, Vishvanath and Nandi Temples, Lakshmana Temple, Visha
Temple of Shiva, which is the largest & most typical of temples. Visit
the Eastern group of temples that consist of the Parasvanath Temple - the
only Jain Temple surviving at Khajuraho and has excellent sculptures on the
outer walls of the Sanctum, the Javeri Temple dedicated to Vishnu. The other
temples in this group are those dedicated to Brahma, Yamuna and Adinath.
Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at Khajuraho
Day 08 : Khajuraho - Varanasi
Transfer to airport to connect flight for Varanasi - the religious capital
of Hindus since times immemorial and a place of devotion and worship with
hundreds of temples doting the city. On arrival, assistance and transfer to
hotel. Overnight at Varanasi
Day 09 : In Varanasi
Morning visit the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple - the most sacred shrine
dedicated to Lord Shiva, New Vishwanath Temple - with the whole Gita
engraved on its marble walls, Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir - with text
of Ram Charit Manas engraved on its walls, Vinayaka Temples - devoted to
Lord Ganesh , Annapoorna Temple , Kal Bhairav Temple , Jateshwar Mahadev
Temple, Maha Mritunjiya Temple and Bharat Mata Temple. Overnight at Varanasi
Day 10 : Varanasi - Kathmandu
Early morning boat excursion on the river Ganges, a ferry pilgrimage from
ghat to ghat. People bathe early in the morning to offer the prayers to the
rising sun. The two cremation ghats are Manikarnika & Harishchandra
where funeral pyre burns day and night. Every pious Hindu believes that to
die in Kashi and to be cremated on banks of the Ganges is to attain release
from the cycle of birth and death. Transfer to airport to connect flight for
Kathmandu. On arrival, assistance and transfer to hotel. Overnight at
Kathmandu
Day 11 : In Kathmandu
Morning visit Pashupatinath Temple, Bodhnath and Bhadgaon. Visit the temple
of Bodhnath, the colossal 2500 years old Stupa, one of the largest in the
world. This Stupa has the all seeing-eyes of the Buddha by king Mana Deva in
expiation of his sins of the advice inset with prayer wheels. Also visit the
Pashupatinath Temple which is noted for its erotic wood carvings of the
struts. Also a city tour visiting Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka, ancient
royal residential quarters etc. Bhadgaon is a Newar city of 9th century.
Visit the ancient gateway, Durbar Square, royal residential quarter of
Bhupendra Malla, temple of Nytapole in pagoda style and other temples.
Overnight at Kathmandu
Day 12 : In Kathmandu
Morning visit Patan and Swaymbhunath Temple. Visit the Old Newar City - the
historic Durbar Square, see the Golden Gate, the sky piercing temple of
Teleju and the statue of Yogendra Malla, other temples and old windows and
carved balconies of wood, curio shops and bazaars. On return, visit
Swayambhunath, the 2500 years old Buddhist temple. Also visit Swayambhunath,
the 2000 years old site with 5 dhyani Buddhas enshrined at the base of the
Stupa. Overnight at Kathmandu
Day 13 : Kathmandu - Delhi
Transfer to airport to connect flight for Delhi. On arrival connect flight
for onward journey.
