AGRA
Agra is synonymous with the Taj - an exquisite monument of love, remarkable

Fatehpur Sikiri, 35 kms from Agra, is a perfectly preserved complex of
palaces, mosques and gardens - a rich legacy of the Mughal era. The city's

JAIPUR
India's fabled Pink City of Jaipur was not always Pink. It was painted
pink, the traditional colour of welcome, in honour of the visit of Prince
Albert, the consort of Queen Victoria, in 1883. The capital of Rajasthan,
Jaipur was built in 1728 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. His architect,
Vidyadhar, successfully created a superb confluence of architectural styles
- Hindu, Jain, Mughal and East - Indian. Even today, Jaipur proudly exhibits
this rich heritage of architectural potpourri.

UDAIPUR
The "Lake City" - Udaipur is a cool oasis in the dry heart of
Rajasthan. It is probably the most romantic city in a state where every city
has some romantic or exotic tale to tell. The huge City Palace, towering
over the Lake Pichola is the largest Palace complex in Rajasthjan. Proceed
on to the Jagdish temple which enshrines a black stone image of Lord Vishnu
and his vehicle - a mighty bird called Garuda in a brass image. Also visit
Sahelion Ki Bari - the spectacular garden displaying the unique life style
of the royal ladies who once lived in the palaces.

JODHPUR
The history of Jodhpur dates back to 1211 AD, when the Rathores of Kanauj
moved in and flourished in the

inhospitable
desert terrain of Rajasthan. In 1459, Rao Jodha, a fierce Rathore king
established his new capital, Jodhpur. The city is dominated by a massive
fort - a monument that reflects the Rajput style of architecture in its

SAMODE
Samode is one hour drive from Jaipur, the old havelis and their paintings
are full of character. At the head of the enclosed valley is the remarkable
Samode Palace, now converted into a hotel. The palace is fabulously
decorated with 300 year old fine Shekhawati style wall paintings (hunting
scenes, floral motives etc.) which still look almost new.

BARBECUE DINNER

A "tandoor" is a clay oven which imbues the food cooked in it with
a unique flavour. A sizzling array of Indian "tandoori" delights,
cooked over glowing coals, is served with a choice of "tandoori rotis"
(Indian breads). This barbecue dinner is held out in the open.
THE MUGHAL THEME
This theme takes you back to the fabled world of the great Mughals. "Chobdars"
(Gate Keepers) usher guests to the "daawat-khaana". Hostesses clad
in silken, flowing "ghaghras" (skirts) and "chunnis"
(veils) welcome the guests with flowers and "attar" (perfume) in
the traditional style. The gardens will be beautifully decorated with
flowers and lights.
RAJPUT WEDDING
A traditional Rajput wedding ceremony where you participate as the "baraat
party" (wedding procession of the bridegroom accompanied by his
relatives and friends) and the brid'd party. The baraat party arrives with
the local band, complete with "mashaals" (torches). The hosts
receive the baraat party and wedding ceremony is held under a decorated "mandap"
(Pavilion). A festive buffet meal, laid out for both the parties in the
illuminated palace / hotel, is accompanied by spirated shehnai music and
folk dances.
GRAND RAJASTHANI SOIREE
This popular theme is a combination of the royal welcome, Rajasthani folk
dances, an elaborate barbecue dinner on the lawns of the palace and a grand
fireworks display.
GALA EVENING AT SAMODE
From the village gate, you will proceed to the palace on camels and camel
carts accompained by soldiers holding gire torches to greet the group in a
royal procession. As the guests enter the gates of the palace, flower petals
are showered on them and girls in Rajasthani costumes garland everyone as
they enter. The entire area is illuminated in a magical way to make it look
like a fairyland. Special entertainment of folk dancers is arranged and a
lavish dinner is laid out. The evening is brought to an end with a beautiful
display of fire works.

A VILLAGE FAIR THEME
A village setting is created with bamboo huts, benches and stalls.
Villagers mingle with guests and display their traditional skills such as
doll-making, puppet-making, pottery, "pichwai" painting and other
crafts. After a splendid dinner, a fascinating display of fireworks brings a
memorable evening to an end.
