The sanctuary is spread in an area of 192.31 square km. It was declared as a Sanctuary in the year 1979. The terrain of rolling hills, meandering rivers and streams enclose the Barda Sanctuary, Porbandar and exploring the whispering woods, wild animals and picturesque scenery of the place is truly a thrilling experience.
A part of the sanctuary comprises agricultural fields and wastelands as well. The forests are a treasure as they are home to a number of plants that have great medicinal value. Two most prominent rivers flowing through the Barda Wildlife Sanctuary include Bileshvary and Joghri rivers. Khambala and Fodara are the two dams of the sanctuary.
Some of the wild animals that you can get to see during your tour to Barda Sanctuary, Porbandar include Ratel, Chameleon, Crocodile, Leopard, Spotted Eagle, Crested Hawk Eagle, Wolf and different species of venomous snakes. The forest was once home to the famed Asiatic Lion and different species of Deers like Chinkara, Sambar and Spotted Deer.
